Checkout ProcedureA current student, staff or faculty ID, or a Community Borrower card, MUST be presented at the circulation counter to checkout ANY item. Student IDs may be obtained at the Enrollment Center. Number of itemsThe total or maximum number of items a student can have checked out on his or her borrower record at one time is twenty (20). There is a limit of three (3) books on a single subject or collection. The limit on DVDs or VHS tapes is three (3). Return of MaterialsBook returns are located at the Circulation desk, outside the west door of the library, and on the drive on the east side of the campus just off of 59th Avenue and between the Music and Humanities buildings. Return reserve materials to the circulation desk. Overdues and DebtsAll borrowers are responsible for lost and damaged library material and will be billed for replacement and processing debt posting costs. Debts are posted on all unreturned material and are posted to the borrower's school record. Failure to receive overdue notices does not remove the responsibility for paying associated debts. Debts: The borrower will be charged a $5.00 debt posting fee per item plus replacement cost of the item. The replacement cost will be waived if the item is returned, however, the $5.00 fee per item will not be waived. Reserve material will accrue an additional fine of $5.00 per day, per item, for each day overdue. The Debt posting fee is determined by the Maricopa Community Colleges Governing Board. Unpaid debts can be collected by the Arizona Department of Revenue or collection agencies. ReservesHeavy demand classroom materials may be placed on reserve by instructors and are available at the Circulation desk. The loan period is generally two hours. Reserve items may not be taken from the library. One Reserve item may be checked out at a time. Interlibrary LoanBooks or copies of articles in periodicals not located in the library may often be obtained from other libraries. This service is free for most requests. Requests are normally filled in seven days from MCCD libraries, but allow a minimum of two weeks for requests outside of the district. Ask at the circulation desk for more information. The library does not request non-print or media materials. Community Borrowers must request interlibrary loans through their local public library. Note: Individual students and faculty are limited to seven outstanding/active interlibrary loan requests at any one time. An outstanding request is a request that is placed into the online system. An active request indicates that the borrower is still in possession of the loaned material. TextbooksThe library does not generally purchase and/or house textbooks. Some instructors may place copies of current texts on reserve for their classes. A CURRENT STUDENT ID OR PICTURE ID SUCH AS A DRIVER’S LICENSE IS REQUIRED TO CHECKOUT THESE ITEMS. Check with the campus bookstore and your course syllabus for required and optional textbooks. Access the bookstore's website (eFollett.com) to determine the text(s) used for your class(es). |
