Collections > Archives & Special Collections How to Find Archives MaterialsAs the archival materials housed in the Library Media Center are kept in a locked room, please ask a librarian at the Information Desk for assistance in retrieving a specific item. These materials, like those in the Reference Collection, must be used in the library. If needing to browse the collection, a librarian will accompany you into the office and assist with your search. SearchingSearch TipsUse the power search in the catalog to limit to the GCC Special/Archive Collection. Choose 'special' in the drop-down list next to 'collection' on the power search screen. Please ask for help at the Information Desk for additional assistance. You may also browse the items in archive (special) collection. A large percentage of the materials in the archival collection concern Glendale Community College; see Collection Description, below. Collection DescriptionThe Library Media Center maintains a collection of materials that are deemed of historic importance. The majority of these items concern Glendale Community College, including items such as older school catalogs & schedules of classes, GCC publications, master plans, architectural drawings, photos, and video recordings. You may view a listing of many of the items associated with GCC by doing a subject search on Glendale Community College. In addition, the collection contains a selection of vintage books, including some covering Arizona & the Southwest, a few oversized art books, and two sets of the Encyclopedia Britannica from the early 20th Century.
