• Browse the Juvenile Collection
  There is a browseable collection of children's books located on the tall book shelves near the library classroom. See search tips for information on finding related materials using the online catalog.
  
  
• Other Juvenile / Children's Literature
  Other titles in the collection are suitable for children of various ages.  These books are available in both the General and Juvenile Collection.   
  • Use one of the following subject heading phrases to find these texts:
    • Juvenile Fiction
    • Children's Stories
    • Juvenile Materials
    • Children's Poetry
    • Children's Songs
    • Children's Literature - about children's literature
      
      
• Recommended Lists
  • See the award and special topic lists for children's literature.  Lists indicate if the GCC library owns the book and where it is located.

Search Tips

Because a keyword search cannot be limited to the Juvenile Collection, it is not possible to search or browse the collection remotely.  However, you may search for a particular author, title, or keyword by combining the author/title/keyword with the following phrase in a keyword search of the library catalog.

("childrens+stories" or "childrens+poetry" or "juvenile+fiction")

Collection Description

The Library Media Center maintains a collection of materials whose intended audience is children.  Although these primarily support the campus Child and Family Studies program, the material is available to all library users.  In addition to many multicultural titles, the collection includes award winning children's books, such as the Caldecott & Newbery winners.
