How to Find Leisure Reading MaterialsSearchingSearch TipsAlthough Leisure Reading book titles can be found in the library catalog the titles do not enjoy complete cataloging. There are no subject headings and minimal descriptions. Thus, keyword searches are less than optimal. You may search for favorite authors, a particular title or keyword, but the collection is designed to be browsed in person. Use the power search in the catalog to limit to the GCC Leisure Reading Collection. Choose 'leisure reading' in the drop-down list next to 'collection' on the power search screen. Note: the limiting to other collections that begin with the words 'leisure' (i.e. leisure fiction or leisure non-fiction) are not relevant to GCC libraries; these searches may be relevant to district wide searches. Please ask for help at the Information Desk for additional assistance. You may also browse the items in the GCC Leisure Reading collection. Collection DescriptionThe Leisure Reading Collection is a selection of recent best-selling novels and non-fiction titles provided for the enjoyment of staff, faculty, and students. The Leisure Reading Collection is divided into three sections, arranged on the shelf in alphabetical order by author including:
These materials are brought into the library on a lease basis, thereby allowing a continuous infusion of new titles on a monthly basis. Older selections are either moved into the General Collection, if appropriate, or returned to the leasing company. |
