Program Overview

Townsend Press is offering cash scholarships to developmental college students who read a number of paperback books during the current semester. To be eligible, a student must be enrolled as a full or part-time student at a two or four year college. The student must also be taking a developmental course in reading or writing. (ESL courses do not apply.) The books must be read by the end of the current (fall or spring) semester.

Steps to join this program.

Go to the GCC Library Media Center and check out one of the Townsend Press paperback books in the Literacy Library.
- Browse all Townsend Press titles before going to the library
Read the book. If you take up reading the Bluford Series, please know that reading them in order is best (characters reappear throughout the books). See information sidebar.
Contact a Book Buddy, one of the Townsend Press Reading Program mentors.
Meet with the monitor and discuss the book you have read to verify that you have read the book. Your name and book will be recorded.
Check out another book.
Repeat the steps above.
