GCC Student Library Advisory Board
Program Information
The Student Library Advisory Board is an opportunity for students to effect positive change in Library services at GCC while gaining valuable leadership and community participation skills. This is an unpaid volunteer position.
Purpose
The purpose of the Student Library Advisory Board is to provide a channel of communication between students and Library faculty. The Board will serve to provide feedback and suggestions about ways in which the Library can better serve the GCC community. Students will be encouraged to suggest agenda items of concern for the consideration of the Board at meetings.
Examples of the type of topics with which you can help:
- How well is the Library’s technology working? What should the Library consider updating?
- Does the Library website meet student needs and is it easy to use?
- Do Library resources and services meet student learning objectives?
- Is the Library a comfortable place to be? How can it be made more comfortable?
Direct feedback from students will help improve Library services and resources and will allow Library faculty to better understand, communicate with, and market resources to students.

- Obtain valuable leadership experience and enhance resume through participation on an advisory board.
Expectations for Student Members
Students will weigh in on agenda items proposed by the Library faculty. Students members may suggest agenda items for consideration of the board relating to library services and areas for targeted improvement.. Most significantly, student members will act as leaders and liaisons between fellow students and the Library. Students are asked to attend all meetings.
Time Commitment
Meetings will take place monthly and will last an hour.
