The World Wide Web, since its birth and inception, has become a central tool for the communication of information around the world. Through the Web and internet, people, governments, libraries, businesses, and educational institutions have been able to share knowledge and information around the world quite literally at the speed of light.

Perils of Web Information 

The quality of sources on the Web varies greatly. Unfortunately, there is no built-in quality control for the Web, and bad and inaccurate information resources rarely label themselves as such.  Moreover, people giving bad information may not even know that they are doing so.  It is important to evaluate the quality of Web information resources to determine which resources are good or bad. The next slide in this tutorial discusses criteria you can use to determine the quality of information resources, including resources found on the Web.
